Dr. Onki Cheung is a board-certified gastroenterologist who performs upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, video capsule endoscopy, and endoscopic mucosal resection. She treats a range of gastrointestinal conditions, including acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, abdominal pain, pancreatic and biliary disorders, irritable bowel disease (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and liver diseases. Fluent in both English and Cantonese, Dr. Cheung values effective communication and patient education, ensuring that her patients understand their medical conditions and treatments.

Her path to gastroenterology was motivated by a desire to balance cognitive challenges with procedural activities, as well as the diversity of conditions she encounters in her practice. After a thorough gathering of a patient’s medical history and physical examination, she utilizes diagnostic tests tailored to the specific symptoms and findings presented. Based on her diagnoses, Dr. Cheung creates personalized treatment plans that prioritize the patient’s needs and best interests.

Dr. Cheung completed her medical fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and her residency at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Upstate Medical University and holds an undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Cheung enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends and engaging in outdoor activities like hiking and gardening.

We’re seeing an increase in phone scams targeting patients. Callers may pose as Medicare, your doctor’s office, or another healthcare provider to obtain your Medicare number or other personal information.

Please remember:

  • Never share your Medicare number, Social Security number, or banking information with unsolicited callers.
  • Medicare will never call you unexpectedly to request your number or personal details.
  • Be wary of offers for “free” medical equipment or services in exchange for your Medicare information.
  • If a call seems suspicious, hang up and contact the clinic where you receive care directly using the phone number listed on our website for that location.
