Dr. Alvarez is a board-certified physician in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. Her interests in the field of gastroenterology include treatments for numerous conditions such as acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, and disease (IBS and IBD), peptic ulcer disease, chronic liver disease, GI bleeding, and screening for colon cancer. She is also fully trained to perform upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and video capsule endoscopy procedures.

Dr Alvarez is amazing! She has been my GI doctor for years and would recommend her to anyone needing GI help. The office staff is friendly and efficient. I never have to wait long in the waiting room.

Dr. Alvarez really listens go what you have to say. She is very easy to talk to and her explanation are clear. Doesn't force her plan on your health care. Willing to go slow and try different avenues of care.

Dr Alvarez is so sweet and caring, she really spends the appropriate amount of time with me and gives me options for long term care and concerns. I prefer the Rowlett office over Dallas due to proximity but the wait time and care at both locations is equally wonderful.

I have rarely come across a more dedicated, knowledgable, and caring physician than Dr. Lisa Alvarez. After my son had been unwell for sometime, I ran some lab work and suspected Celiac Disease. When I shared this bloodwork with his pediatrician and another doctor they were not concerned and suggested to repeat labs some months down the road.Despite their lack of concern I managed to get in touch with her office, and thanks to a very efficient receptionist, which I will also be forever thankful for, Dr Alvarez reviewed his bloodwork and she made room in her very busy schedule to see my son just 2 days later. He was diagnosed with celiac disease via endoscopy the following week. Through this journey with Celiac Disease she has constantly advocated for my son, communicated with him, even when she was out of the country, answered questions for our whole family and helped my son with the challenges of his diagnosis and even his transition to college. She is a doctor that knows how to communicate and does so in a timely manner. She collaborates with patients and educates her patients. She does it with grace and patience and I will forever be grateful for the fact that she is bringing my son back to health with her attention to detail, care, and follow up.
