"I had been hospitalized with severe chronic pancreatitis 3 times over a 3 month period at another major hospital in the Dallas area. My GI at that hospital referred me to Dr. Tarnasky, who was able to diagnose my problem in the first appointment and provide treatment options. After extensive testing and treatment, I am doing well. Dr Tarnasky has a level of knowledge and skills that is exceptional. I believe he saved my life."

"The staff at DHAT Rockwall are caring and wonderful people. In particular, Iselyn Bueno and Mashaer Rajan are exceptionally committed to the care of their patients. By way of example, My Son was diagnosed with Hepatitis C and was prescribed a medication that is approved for use by his insurance company (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas), but during the pre-approval process, BCBS would not approve the use of the medication. It took 3 months of appeals, peer to peer reviews and many phone calls from Iselyn and Mashaer, before BCBS finally relented and approved the use of the medication. Without the extreme persistence of both Iselyn and Mashaer, my son would still be untreated. I was quite surprised that these wonderful professionals were willing to spend months fighting on behalf of their patient and ultimately won the battle. It's a sad state of affairs that very busy health professionals have to spend months of their time fighting insurance companies instead of providing care to other patients in need. My sincere thanks to Iselyn and Mashaer for going way beyond the call of duty for my Son. Also, thanks to the other good people at DHAT for the wisdom and foresight to hire dedicated professionals."

"I chose Dr. Akerman based on the reviews and ratings that were on Google. Below is my honest feedback on my experience... Prior to the procedures, I had to go to an in-patient consult at his office. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and very helpful. Before he saw me, I sat with his PA (Letty) who was very friendly and very knowledgeable about my circumstances. She made me feel very comfortable to speak with her about something so personal to me. Finally, Dr. Akerman came in. He impressed me from the very beginning because he immediately started talking to me about my previous colonoscopies. He was very much up to speed on past issues and was able to speak to any questions or concerns that I had. Not to get too personal (or gross you out with details), but he was able to give me some really great feedback about a few other questions that I had. Dr. Akerman was extremely friendly, extremely attentive, extremely knowledgeable… and I walked away feeling good about him, his office and the procedure. The day before the procedure, I had to prepare by drinking the wonderful “cocktail” he prescribed. I bring this up because his office provided me with instructions that were slightly different from the prescription. His instructions were easy to follow and made a lot of sense. This is just another small detail that impressed me about his interest in his patients and ensuring the success of the procedure. FAST FORWARD to the day of the procedure… the location was extremely easy to find because it is across the street from his office. Still on Parker and Preston, it is in the same strip mall with Walmart and the EoS Fitness Gym. I went into this place expecting to be in a typical doctor’s office that is in a strip mall. I couldn’t be more wrong. Aside from the waiting room (which they checked me in with ZERO issues), the back area looks exactly like a hospital! I was blown away! The staff was moving & shaking… everyone was busy, friendly and things were getting done. Everyone I interacted with were very friendly, very professional, and took the time to walk me through paperwork, explaining the procedure, and made sure I was comfortable. I was rolled into the exam room and the next thing I knew, I was waking up. Even though I was a little “out of it” after the procedure, I do recall talking with him about the procedure. Dr. Akerman has incredible bedside manner, making sure that I was comfortable, and answering any follow-up questions that my wife and I had. In the days after the procedure, I had some challenges with CVS Pharmacy. It literally lasted almost a week to get my prescription together, but it was an absolute pleasure to deal with Letty AND Dr. Akerman during the process. They remained professional and did all that they could to work with the pharmacy- despite how difficult the pharmacy was making things. What I like about his office is his online “portal”. In 2024, I am sure everyone has a portal but his was the easiest and direct way to reach his office and speak with someone. Letty and Dr. Akerman were very quick and very efficient about responding to my emails. IN CONCLUSION, I wanted to really comb through my entire experience so you know what to expect. Ultimately, I give Dr. Akerman high ratings. I have nothing but great things to say about him, his staff, and my overall experience. It was seamless on their end. I can’t complain about anything. Even if I wanted to be “nit-picky” about something, I can’t. This was truly a great experience. I definitely feel comfortable continuing to see him for my gastrointestinal matters. This is big because I take my health seriously and if the “trust” factor isn’t there, that’s a problem. With him, I trust him and plan to stick with him. Without going into a lot of past experiences with other doctors, I’ll just emphasize how huge it is to me that I have such high regards for him as my doctor. I would highly recommend that you see him too."

The things that move slowly are tests that need to be scheduled with 3rd parties (specialized testing, X-rays, MRIs, etc.). "I like Dr.Kale. However, She is a very very busy doctor! None the less her PA is also very nice. Dr Kale doesn't mind explaining things to you in layman’s terms what needs to be done or what is going on. She dose it without making you feel as if you should know this. When visiting Doctor Kale it’s like visiting a good friend. She makes you feel comfortable and she puts your mind at ease. I am so so blessed to have her apart of my medical team. If I happen to need to see her PA, there is a consistency between the two, which makes me feel confident that De Kales hand is in the mix. However I can’t say the same about the office staff. They preform the same task day in and out so much, they tend to forget that for many people it maybe the first time seeing Dr.Kale or her P.A. Or taking a medication, or even having a persecute done . So they tend to speed through the what, when , where, and any other question one may have. The medical assistant seems to be annoyed when I call with a question for Dr Kale or her PA. Once I didn’t know that she was the medical assistant until I started asking about medication ( I didn’t like that) however, once you get through the office staff you get individual care, concerns addressed, and Dr Kale puts your mind at ease. YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS! Dr.Kale, knows what she’s doing and she is dad gum good at it! I will return to her again and again for any of my GI needs . Dr. Kale takes care of me and she is a doctor that treats you like a person. Not an insurance clock number."

"Not going to lie, I was a bit apprehensive upon scheduling when looking through some of the reviews but we really like Dr. Ho. He took time to listen to our concerns and explained next steps without making us feel rushed at all. It is in our nature to learn what we can do when our body seems off and we felt relieved to be able to ask him about natural remedies through food and diet without feeling dismissed. There are many specialists (and ER doctors honestly) that can get snarky because you have questions and they don't have time but this was not the case with Dr. Ho. He was kind, compassionate and thorough and I would definitely recommend. The only criticism I have is one of the office nurses was a bit on the short side when I wanted to verify they received medical records but I can cope with that as the nurse check out staff was kind and patient."

Adult situations should at the very least be addressed with an adult. I didn't set the appointment for her to walk in and handle complex things that are over head, herself."

When I was unable to get an imaging service done the day of, due to miscommunication, I called back to rescheduled and the same individual seemed even more annoyed that I didn’t get the procedure done the day before. Who knows, maybe they were having a rough week. Eventually, after a few more calls I was able to get everything scheduled. Apart from their scheduling system when being referred to an outside company for additional procedures and one individual who was a little grumpy, I’m happy with this location and GI Alliance. Dr. Shah is wonderful and I’m glad to have found her practice."

While this may not be the appropriate forum to talk about this problem, I see it as a huge disservice to refuse to accept a patient that has been in one of their practice sites for that long. Their reasons may sound valid but I am now very disappointed in the whole experience. I decided to stay with North Hills ONLY because of my experience with Dr. Chandra. I do have some issues which the Denton practice didn't like because these required a higher level of car or so they say. What does that have to do with anything? I can't help but wonder if they just don't want to work with another Medicare patient.So you can decide how dedicated they are to serving the individual needs of their clients.
